Re: Red Alert 2 FPS problem
There are a bunch of things you can do to make RA2 run better...
- Go to the game folder, and make sure all programs (RA2.exe, game.exe, Yuri.exe, RA2MD.exe, gamemd.exe) are set to run as administrator, and in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode.
- Also in the game folder, open RA2.ini (RA2MD.ini for Yuri's Revenge), find the [Video] section and set the option "VideoBackBuffer" below it to "no". If it's not there, add it (as "VideoBackBuffer=no").
- In the Origin client program, open the game properties and check the box to disable Origin In Game.
- The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve some graphics issues on RA2. It might help here too. Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and the game should work.
