There is an old LAN patch (cncnet4) that could cause such problems, the file is named "wsock32.dll", did you place such a file into your game folder maybe?

@FunkyFr3shCnCNet I've never placed a file like that in there, but, there is a file named exactly like that. Do I delete / remove it from the folder?

You can delete it, yes. But double check that you are really inside of your Red Alert 2 folder so you don't remove any files from the wrong folder by accident

@FunkyFr3shCnCNet Strange. How would a network patch cause stuff like that?

There is something faulty with the exports, it somehow sends windows into a endless loop. Should be easy to fix, I might take a look into it one day

Thank you two for your help. I don't know how, but Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge is now suddenly working with the old launcher somehow restored. When I first removed wsock32.dll it didn't work. But the second time I did it worked. It may or may not have contributed to the solution. Things for me just suddenly fix themselves after awhile.
