Re: Units that attack other units they're not suited against

So this means that one can use his own units to cushion the offensive of the opposing player? What's the damage reduction then if a unit is used against a disadvantage. E.g. a rifleman squad targets a predator instead of a missile squad.

The game relies on a rock-paper-scissors mechanic. Every unit is strong against a certain unittype while also being weak against others. Shockwaves for example just shred infantry, but destroying a tank will take them like 30 seconds. Likewise, a tank can just completely destroy vehicles, but taking out a shockwave squad takes forever. You can imagine that units have damage amplefiers against the different types of units. For example a shockwave squad deals full damage to infantry, so 100%, but against vehicles its maybe 10%. This mechanic was used in other C&C games, especially C&C 3. In that game, a rifleman would just never take out a tank because, well have you tried destroying a tank with a rifle? I'm pretty sure this won't work x)

So if a infantry unit has lets say 100 HP and a tank has 100 dps (its not this way but lets assume this), how long will it take for the tank to take the infantry out? If you say 1 second you are wrong because the tank has 100 dps against vehicles, not infantry.

It is very important to know what unit to send to counter your enemy. Sometimes multiple counters are possible, but one option is sometimes just better. Example: enemy sends a tank, do you send a tank or misslesquad? Well, while the tank will do damage to the other tank, so will the enemies tank to yours. But if you send the misslequad, the tank won't deal much damage to it, and in addition to that, the misslesquad is cheap.

Then you asked about tanking for other units. In your scenario you send a tank to protect your misslesquad from rifleman. This will not work well because the enemy can still choose which unit to attack. So he just selects the rifleman and clicks on the misslesquad. A better option is repositioning: send your misslesquads away from the unit they are weak against (riflemen) and send a unit there that is strong against the riflemen (for example shockwaves, talon or rhino). Don't forget, you can micro your units! Don't just send them into battle and watch what happens, actively move them around. If a misslesquad arrives to attack your tank, move it away and send shockwaves instead! Now he is sending a rhino? Position the shockwaves and the tank in such a way that the shockwaves shoot the misslesquad, the tank shoots the rhino, but the rhino can't reach your shockwave and is forced to attack the tank instead (reminder: rhino is weak against vehicles).

I hope this helped? xd May I ask, are you a newer player? If so, would you like to join my alliance? I can give tips and other stuff x)

just going to pop in here real quickly. There is no % damage reduction. Every attack has a stat. This allows the developers to tune stats much more closely.

    For example:

Venom has anti-infantry damage of 60 and vehicle damage of 28.
Talon has an anti-infantry damage of 57 and vehicle damage of 20.

Both are strong vs infantry and cost 30. So every interaction between units is an intended stat point.

Huh, where do we get these numbers from? :-/
