well that was a waste of $20, how about you guys update the games in the C&C collection to have windows 8 support? I followed everything here, and nothing, gets to the splash screen and that's it...

Might be a rant, but not totally wrong! ;-)
I bought the download through gamestop where it said modifications were made to work with my Win7. No, it does not! I got all the usual errors; ssleay32.dll, rundll32, and string manager.
Have tried all the compatibility mode and run as Admin suggestions. Removed account control. Installed Dx8. Installed Bibber patch. Tried and failed to install 3rd party 1.03 rev4 patch. Turned off origin in game.
Seems silly when they as owners refer to internet patches to do their work for them. Would a little in house development and testing be too much to ask for something you are still selling?
Btw; once installed on my hard drive, why does it keep popping up the origin program? I'm not going to perform any online game play.
Btw2; The advanced option for keeping game installers after they have been installed, is not working. If I want to try a reinstall, I have to download the whole file again and I live in the sticks with 4mb download.
The 1.03 rev4 patch was made for The First Decade. It is not advised to use it on The Ultimate Collection. The patches for the separate games should do the trick, though. There is some more information in the sticky topics in this forum.
I should really make a new Common Problems thread here; everything in this one was researched for The First Decade, not for The Ultimate Collection.
As for Origin popping up, well, it happens to be the games' DRM system. You can set Origin to offline mode to make sure it doesn't need to actually connect to the internet to start the game, though.

It is working now and I did it by removing the compatibility mode in the as shipped ra2 application file!
After all the attempts to add/patch things, it was not doing something that worked! :-)
