Red Alert 1 Glitch

As I play, the game freezes, and I get audio glitches, for a few seconds.

This happens constantly, about every 30 seconds to a minute.

I do have the typical graphics glitches but I havent take the time to sort them out as I've been looking into the main problem.

I have looked at the super long fixer post, but have not seen anything that applies to my game.

Anybody else having this problem?
