Red Alert 2: Battles Running Slowly

Hi,

Whenever I run the game and begin a Skirmish that the game begins running incredibly slowly. To the point where it is simply unplayable for me. 

The menus run a the normal speed which I would expect them to, it is only when I begin a battle that the game runs slowly.

How do I fix this?

    Did you set the game to some ridiculously high resolution, by any chance? The game was designed to run on resolutions around 1024x768, and I know it has trouble with too many objects on the screen at the same time.

    You could also try messing around with the compatibility modes on the exe file; see if that makes any difference.

    No, it's nothing like that. I put it down on the minimum speaks to see if it would help but it did nothing.
