Red Alert 2 won't let me exit the game

Red Alert 2 won't let me exit the game. ALT-TABbing let me access the task bar, but not close the Red Alert 2 window. Not even taskmanager solves it. I have to reboot to exit the game. I'm running w...

    @PocoFlanel Hmm. Peculiar problem. There are a few things you might try...

    -Disable the Origin In Game system by right-clicking the game entry in Origin, opening its options and checking the "disable Origin In-game" checkbox

    -Install the graphics system patch DDWrapper; download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, and save the file. This patch replaces the game's use of the old DirectDraw system (the predecessor of DirectX) and might solve issues on startup and exit.

    It's strange that you can't kill the process though. Normally, if you select the task in task manager, right click it, select "go to process" and then right-click that process and select "End Process Tree" it should force-kill it, no matter what.
