Red Alert 3 CD-Key has already been used

I bought Command and Conquer The Ultimate Collection. However when I go to play Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 Multiplayer, I get an error when trying to join my friends (who bought The Ultimate Collection at the same time) stating the CD key is already in use. They have origin copies. My friend who has the Steam copy of the game I can play with just fine.
