Red Alert 3 Resolution won't change.

I'm trying to run Red Alert 3 on my MacBookPro Retina 15" mid2012 and it runs just fine, except that it wont change the resolution of the game to anything. It stays constant in 800x600 even though I have selected 2880x1200 and several other. It seems that it changes to the new resolution, then straight back again.

Anyone have experienced this, and may have a solution for the problem?

Current config:

MacBook Pro Retina 15" mid 2012

OSX Maverick

Intel Core i7 2.6Ghz

16GB RAM

250GB HDD (lots of space left)

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M

I haven't seen this myself, perhaps it's related to the extremely high resolution. Do you get the same situation when you choose more modest ones such as 1680 by 1050 or 1280 by 800.

I'm also not sure if it would work, but it may help to try forcing a non-standard resolution. You can find a small tutorial to do that here:https://help.ea.com/article/changing-the-resolution-for-red-alert-3

Maybe it would help if you read the request completely. We are running Mac, not Windows... the tutorial you gave a link to is for RA3 on Windows... so unfortunately it doesn't help much. :manfrustrated:

I'm getting the same problem where you change the resolution, it changes and then the Mac changes it back.
Does anyone have any ideas? Iv tried it on a MacBook Pro retina 15" and an iMac.

    Thanks in advance

Same here. I even had the new 2.6 rmbp Haswell set up all ready to go. Then I tried Red Alert but it defaults at 800x600 no matter what I do. If I selected 1920 option it yanks me out of the app. Hopefully EA is reading this and are doing a fix soon. I just wondered though and I could get black listed by EA for saying this, but all of my Blizzard titles work 100% and are optimized too. Simcity and RA3 just all have problems for the mac. If Blizzard can do it for the OSX, why can't EA do it?

    The following worked for me:

Open up RA3. Hit Command + Enter (return). Change the settings to whatever resolution you would like. Once it is changed, hit Command + Enter again.

    Hope this helps.

  • I got the Mac resolution issue fixed by following steps:

    1) Launch RA3

2)While on main menu, press Command + Enter( return); the game will run in smaller window now.

    3) Now while game runs in smaller window, go to graphics of the game, change the resolution to desired one and "confirm" it. You will see that resolution is changed now.

    4) Return to main menu, press Command + Enter( return) again to get to normal size window.

    Voilaa, all set!!
