Red Alert Remastered - what is up with naval combat?

Why is the naval combat in this game incredibly broken?

When I was playing as the soviets, my submarines took 10 shots to kill a gunship, while they killed my subs in 2 shots.

Now I'm playing as allies, and my gunboats take 10 shots to kill a submarine, while they kill my gunboats in 2 shots.

These are all direct hits on stationary units. Yes you can micro and dodge the shots. But I never remember doing this nonsense in the original game. And I played that for years.

The worst is when I captured a construction yard and build my own subs. The enemy subs still kill mine in 2 shots, while my subs only did a sliver of damage with each torpedo.

Is the naval combat just completely broken in the remaster? Is it because I'm playing on "normal" difficulty that the enemy naval units get a magical 10x damage multiplier?

  • @g1leen41 No, normal difficulty should not get any damage multipliers... only easy and hard.

The whole damage multipliers system in RA is 100% global anyway; it never affects some types more than others.
