Server crashes when I try to load multiplayer games in TD Remastered:

Over the past couple of weeks, I've suffered from at least a handful of games which failed to launch properly in the multiplayer lobby. These were mostly 6 player, full games, which is really sad because of the wasted time organizing such games and the potential fun that could of been had by the players.

I understand that the client is no longer receiving updates but the server? Can it be optimized and fixed please? I am struggling with trying to revive the TD Remaster community and this situation is certainly not helping.

I would like EA or whomever is in charge of the server system for the Remasters to look into this issue and fix it. I might add that this situation is kind of awkward for a AAA game to have such a unreliable back-end if you look at it objectively given the year.

I am a big TD fan and I hope something can be done about this.

Thanks.

  • On further inspection I have noticed that the game loading doesn't actually *crash*, what happens is that it basically just sits there stalling for (I recorded on one occasion) 5 or so minutes at times. The normal functioning time is usually 15-30 seconds at most. Is there anything you can do for us EA/petro? Thanks.

  • I stop-watched one loading session today with 4 players in TD Remaster. It took exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds to load into the game. How can that be reasonable?

This has been happening since they dropped support.

Every couple of weeks the multiplayer servers just start taking a loooong time to get in to. Usually the problem goes away after a couple of days. Lately the issue has just not been fixed at all, its been like this for a whole week now.

The lobby just says that "Connecting to server..." but nothing seems to be happening. Eventually tho youll get to loading screen and in-game, it just often takes anything from 5 to 20 minutes. And usually after this time someone has alredy left and the game is ruined.

  • From observing the behaviour over the past couple weeks I think I have a suspicion as to what the culprit is: A memory leak.

The server works fine for weeks but then gets worse and worse over time, if its not a log/record file based problem it has to be a memory leak in the server software.

Just today the server got so bad we kept being kicked out of lobby rooms but thankfully it looks like they restarted the software and its starting to work properly again.

Thank you for fixing it for now.
