(Don't skip steps please or it will get very difficult to help you) If yes, please follow these two steps: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Generals#DirectX_8.1_error_.28Windows.29 If that doesn't help: please update your graphics drivers and make sure to run the game with your dedicated graphics card from NVidia or AMD. Does any of this help? This issue doesn't just randomly occur; there is always something causing it. Did you install any mods, modifications or launchers? You are using the Ultimate Collection?
Edit: I updated the options.ini-steps on PCGamingwiki. Please look at those steps again to make sure you got the correct location for options.ini 🙂
