There are for sure some technical issues with this game. Playing over Wifi is quite prone to connection issues. Also, getting matched against somebody at the other side of the world (which sometimes happens) does not exactly help with that.
However, I don't get why so many people regard it as cheating when there are technical issues. It's not like my opponent in China or Australia or whereever is actively doing something against my local Wifi connection here in Germany. The symptoms are there, yes, but the root cause is not cheating but an unfavourable setup of people's connections with the game server(s).
Also, I would like to disagree with your thread title. Yes, there is a lot that can be improved, but I for one like this game very much. Perhaps there could be more tutorials which teach you how to play well, and that explain to you what to do when you experience technical problems. I feel we would then have less reports about cheaters.
