So, at work (not that I'm doing anything but work while there....) my connection is sweet via wifi. I don't know if it's the service, a high quality wireless router, the booster signals around the place - I really don't know - but I never have an issue.
At Home I often turn off my wifi to play. I don't really disconnect, but it can get laggy if I don't.
I'm not sure that helps you - other then I don't think all wifi is created equal.

If that is true, then what can I do to improve my Wifi at home? Buy a better router? Which one would be good?

As for better wifi, try something in the 5ghz band. Less interference. Also minimize things using wifi, since it's kinda like a toll gate. Someone else's facebook post goes into the same line as your rivals move, so you gotta wait for that facebook post to send before your wifi will send off your rivals move giving you that dreaded "poor connection" warning.
