Zoom Out Help!!

Hi, Newbie here but old school C&C fan.

Bought the remastered game but I just cannot get used to how 'zoomed in' it is.

Its just too small a play area and I definitely remember playing with a smaller field of vision back in the day.

The maximum zoom out is no way far enough.

I have tried a load of different resolutions, from 4K 3840 × 2160 right down to the smallest, reduces screen size but not the field of play.

I really cant enjoy it like this, any help much appreciated!

The viewport is made to be identical in height to the original game.

I don't really understand this complaint, to be honest. A while ago, I compared amount of cells in RA3 and RA1 on the screen at the same time, and it was fairly similar. But the footprints of the RA3 buildings take up a lot more cells, meaning you actually see more in these older games.

    He's got a point though.
I think he might be a bit used to playing the Patched Version that you made, since that is better in terms of seeing the actual map in-game. Also, I would describe having a Construction Yard that is bigger than your hand on the screen is a bit much. Makes you feel inadequate and small, especially when you're only playing using a 32" Monitor.

Back then, it was a practical thing, desplaying too much on the screen was easy to do and would break the game or overheat the system or both. Remember, that was 1995. This is 2020, we could at least get the ability to zoom-out a little more. What's the point in a 4K experience if you can't appreciate the whole war going on around the map.

Irrelevant. That functionality was originally unlocked purely for monitors that were no longer able to handle 640x400 or 640x480 mode. It was never meant for turning this game into Supreme Commander -_-

Anyway, as you can see, the viewport of the Remaster in fact shows a bit more than the original game, seeing as there's no black bar covering the top, and the width is adapted to standard widescreen.
