Dead Space 2 for PS3 - FULL or DEMO of Dead Space Extraction?

I have an open Case with Origin / EA support about my recent order for Dead Space 2 for PS3. (PS My case # is: 06630686 )

I understand there are different releases of Dead Space 2 for PS3.  Some of the releases I know about are:

Dead Space 2 Limited Edition

Dead Space 2 Collectors Edition

Dead Space 2 (Standard Edition)

Dead Space 2 Greatest Hits Edition

It is my understanding that the Limited Edition, and the Collectors Edition both contain the full version of Dead Space Extraction.  The Limited Edition even has the sticker that says "Includes Dead Space Extraction".

I've seen (on Google images) different versions of Dead Space 2 standard edition.  Some have the sticker that says "Includes the Demo of Dead Space Extraction", while others do not say anything at all (no sticker).

The Dead Space 2 Greatest Hits edition also has a sticker that says "Includes the Demo of Dead Space Extraction".

On the Origin store for Dead Space 2 for PS3, it has a case cover picture of Dead Space 2 Standard Edition (with no sticker for Dead Space Extraction).  The URL to the game on Origin store is:  http://store.origin.com/store/ea/en_US/pd/productID.108005900/sac.true   In the description, it clearly states:  "Once you've finished the main story, check out the new multiplayer mode and play as the very creatures that scared you pantless during the game.  The PS3 version also includes Dead Space Extraction, a prequel to the original Dead Space that was previously exclusive to the Nintendo Wii."

I decided to contact chat support before placing my order for Dead Space 2 for PS3.  I asked if the full version or the demo of Dead Space Extraction was included with the PS3 version, and was told the full version is indeed included.  So I placed my order on Monday Nov 26 2012.  On Friday Nov 30th 2012 my game arrived in the mail.  They sent me the "Greatest Hits" version, which has a sticker indicating "Includes the Demo of Dead Space Extraction".

I was extreamly disapointed.

I contacted chat support that day (Friday Nov 30th 2012) and explained the problem.  I was told I would get the full version of Dead Space Extraction, yet the game case for Greatest Hits clearly states I am getting the demo.  The chat person was no help at all and "escelated" my issue, telling me I would receive an email from someone else.  When I inquired when I would receive the email, the chat person could not tell me when.  Because it was a Friday, I thought it might not be until Monday I hear from them.  Chat support told me if I did not hear from them by Tuesday to contact support again.

Tuesday Dec 4th 2012 comes, and still no email from origin support about my issue.  I contact chat support again and asked if there has been any updates.  Chat support was useless and just said its been escalated and could not give me any ETA.

It is now Thursday Dec 6th 2012.  Still no email from Origin Support.  I have no idea if they are going to fix this problem or not.  I decided to post this in the forums hoping some Origin support personal sees this and can help me.

I purchased the game strictly for Dead Space Extraction.  I love on-rails shooters, and heard this was pretty good.

Please Origin / EA support, contact me and fix this issue for me.  It would be great if you mailed out a new Dead Space 2 game with the full version of Dead Space Extraction on it.

Just thought I should update this thread.

Even though the Origin store website continues to say Dead Space 2 for PS3 comes with Extraction, this is not true at all.

Support was unable to resolve my problem.  I clearly inquired about getting the full version of Extraction before placing my order, and I was told I would.  But now after they shipped me the Greatest Hits version with only a demo of Extraction, there is nothing they can do for me.

I had to contact support 3-4 times about this.  Spent hours waiting on hold for them.  Origin support is the absolute worst support system I have ever had to use.

Support did give me $5 off my order, but I honestly only bought Dead Space 2 to play Extraction (on my PS Move).  I really like on-rails shooters.  I now have to pay another $15 to get this game on PSN.  Its not worth sending Dead Space 2 back because they want me to pay for return shipping for their mistake!

I will take this as a learning experience.  I shop from a lot of retailers online and this was my first (and last experience) with Origin.

  • Both,  Dead Space 2 Limited Edition and Dead Space 2 Collectors Edition come with extraction, the other versions do not.
