I purchased a digital copy of dead space 3 and when i click to play it brings up an error from ea saying: Error has occured, unable to access ea servers to activate dead space 3 limited edition on this computer using this account. please try again later. i have reinstalled dead space 3 and Origin many times. my friend also tried him account on my computer and it does not work for his account either.

Just to check if you have the actual installer of Origin, download and install the latest version of Origin at www.origin.com/download (for the case that you used an installer from your download folder).
If that doesn’t helped, close the origin client and go directly to you origin folder C:\Program Files\Origin Games. Run the origin.exe in this folder with a rightclick -> run as administrator.
This worked out in the most cases, if not, try to deactivate your firewall/antivirus software and/or check the online ports of your connection:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300
For specific instructions on how to open your ports, please visit http://www.portforward.com/ or contact your router manufacturer.
Please let us now, if this problem after this workaround still exist.

I have the same issue as well and I've tried everything you have listed and it still does not work. I'm running Windows 8 Pro.
something like thats happened to me to i fifxed it by turning on my browser and leaving it on the whole time i just turn on the game and its fine
How did you activate it? I have same problem like you. I have open all the ports. And my 'origin games' folder is empty. There's only c:/program files (x86)/Origin. I tried to run the origin as administrator but still, a window will pop up says "we're sorry. An error has occurred".

Had the same problem with Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3. Download and install Fiddler 2 ( a web debbuger application ) and run that program, then click play and it will go through to activate on the EA servers. Once the game is activated you can close Fiddler. You won't need to run it every time you run the game. This is just for getting past the activation error message.
