dead space 3 Xbox 360 controller not working

so I am on my third play through of dead space three and I still can't get the R3 button to work for the locator it works for everything else all other games but it will not give me the locator in dead space 3 I tried to look if there's a way I can reconfigure the controls no luck like is there any fix for this or am I doomed to be stuck by the keyboard pressing the B kay to find my way
