Dead Space Remake crash, PC, at Wheezer

I have gotten up to the first Wheezer despite all the bugs I faced on the way from the beginning and when I interact with the Wheezer my game just freezes Isaac and the Wheezer, but the fans on the vent keep spinning and my O2 still depletes and won't kill me. I'm stuck on the 1st movement of interaction and I have tried to verify my game files and also uninstall and re-install the game. Literal game breaking bug and it's killing my mood for Dead Space. I was so hyped to play it when it launched. Now I am disappointed to not be able to play it on the weekend and I don't want to restart from the beginning, else I might encounter other game breaking bugs I've heard such as key items not appearing.
