Dead Space Remake doesn't recognize my xbox controller

Using the EA app, I cannot use my xbox controller, either plugged in or connected via bluetooth. Please don't give me the "steam fix". Is there an advanced launch options or can i edit a config file to get my controller to work? i have aleady tried app recovery through the windows start menu and I have also tried repairing the game files through the ea app. I have also tried unplugging all of my usb peripherals and also tried plugging in the xbox controller via usb. Please help... Thanks.
