So this pops up every time I try to launch the game. invalid licence. reason code=missing DLL: [d3dx9_38.dll] error: 0x7E
Now I installed my graphics card driver to see if that would resolve the problem. It kinda worked, mostly for DS 2, 3 . But not dead space 1 so now I'm at a loss any help would be most appreciated.

so I figured out my problem the solution is
- go to file explorer
- Then go to This pc
- go to the driver you have the game on, C, or D
- Open dead space folder
- double click _Installer
- double click on directx folder
- then open redist folder
- scroll down a bit an open DXSETUP and click yes to comfirm install of the drivers
and there you go no need to kick and scream, if this is happening to you it should resolve the issue.

Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble to launch Dead Space 1 via EA Desktop (I downloaded the game with Game Pass PC). When I try to launch the game, EA Desktop says : "Your game failed to launch. An error on our end caused your launch to fail. Try again a little later."
It's been two weeks since I've been trying, and still not working. I tried what aratillery did, but it didn't work. If someone can help, that would be great !
This did not resolve the problem for me sadly. I also have downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers already. I wonder what would help me here
This fixed the game for me.
I’m running it on Windows 11 RTX 3070 mobile.

Go to system32 folder and delete ONLY files from d3dx9_24.dll to D3DX9_43.dll. Do the same action in SysWOW64 folder. After that install DXSETUP from redist folder in your Dead Space game folder.
