Endlessly Loading Door Not Resolving

Hello,

I just received this game for the SimCity issues and was excited to play this game while those get resolved. I can play the game just fine up until I control Issac and attempt to open the first door out in the hallway (the one by the vending machines). The blue circle animation start and the work Open dissapears, but the door never opens. I can back away and the Unlocked words will eventually appear. I can then repeat the process with the same results.

I can also walk back to Issac's apartment and the same thing occurs when trying to open the door, too.

Once I attempt to exit, save, whatever, the game will freeze and I have to perform a hard shutdown in order to regain control of my PC again. I can save and exit anytime before attempting to open any doors just fine, as well as in the opening sequence.

I have deleted saves and started new games and nothing seems to be fixing this issue. I see in the Help Section that this is a known bug and that reloading the checkpoint should resolve, but if I attempt that it just loads forever (let it run for 30 minutes just loading before I hard shut down).

Any ideas? If this is unresolvable, would I be able to remove the game and select a different free title?
