PC version crashes constantly.

i9-13900k, RTX 4090. Game crashes on a constant basis. Anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes it will crash. No error message. Nothing in Event Viewer. Sometimes it will crash to desktop. Sometimes it will crash the PC requiring a reset. I've tried EVERYTHING over the last three days.

Turned off memory XMP profile, disabled CPU overclocking, disabled all in-game overlays, disabled MSI Afterburner, shut down every possible background process, updated ALL drivers, updated Windows, tried rolling back Nvidia driver to several earlier versions, tried tweaking a dozen different settings in Nvidia Control Panel, tried different resolutions, tried all possible combinations of graphics settings.

VERDICT: THIS GAME IS PHUKKED!!!!!!

Gonna put it on the shelf and play something else. I'll try again in a couple of months. Hopefully y'all can get this steaming pile of garbage working. Shame on the devs for releasing such a hot steaming mess.

  • I have the exact same system, maybe we have different kind of memory module types. I am running on Windows 11 and have the latest NVIDIA driver. Maybe you could do a stress test with 3DMark? And try to run memtest to check if there are any problems with your internal memory. Is Dead Space remake the only game that is crashing for you?

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the reply, S1xthsense.

This is the only game that crashes on me. If there is one thing I can guarantee it is that I don't have a hardware problem. I recently stress-tested this rig within an inch of its life after putting it together and again two weeks ago just to make sure everything was still solid. Memtest86, all the 3DMark tests, OCCT, Cinebench R23.......everything passes with no issue. Since building this rig I've played Far Cry 6, Horizon Zero Dawn, Control, both Uncharted PC ports, and since giving up on Dead Space yesterday I'm currently playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Everything runs like a dream at 4K max settings.......not a single crash.

Based on how many people are having this exact problem I fully believe the problem is with the game and it's not hardware related. I'm happy it works for you. But, I give up. I'll just wait for them to fix it with a future patch.

BTW....my RAM is 32GB (2X16) G-Skill DDR5 6800. If I turn the XMP profile off it runs at 4800. Either way......crash city. Mobo is Asus ROG Strix Z790-E WiFi and I'm running with WD Black SN850 SSDs. BIOS and every possible driver is up-to-date. I'm also running on a new clean install of Windows 11 Home......re-installed it a week ago. I re-install Windows every four or five months just to keep everything bug-free.

Thanks again for the reply! 🙂
