@GQman2121  One of the main issues with a physical copy is that they don't get updated because they are hard coded on the CD. The only way for that to be updated is if the game pushes a patch. Since the removal of the online pass itself as needing to be purchased, if the marketplace you are on does not allow it to be downloaded, then I am afraid a digital copy which has been updated would be one of the only other ways to go. We have no control over the Sony store, so unless the online pass is in a players previous purchases or download history, there isn't another way to get that with a physical copy of the game.

    How can multiple pieces of DLC (16 to be precise) be available to purchase on the PSN Store, yet the two that are free and allow access to the games full content be unavailable? 

    And you're saying that's a Sony issue? 

    I paid $10 for the Awakened DLC that is compatible with the physical game. I did that directly from the in-game menu off of the PSN Store. 

    Why would paid content be treated any differently than something that is supposed to be free? 

    It honestly feels like I'm being punished for NOT buying the game digitally, which is exactly what the online pass was initially intending to accomplish. 

    I know - and completely understand - you and anyone else on this board that reps the company have literally zero control over any of this. But be real here: this is absolutely a self manufactured decision to attempt sell a few more digital copies of a game that is a decade old. 

    The evidence is just too strong based on your explanation here.

    @GQman2121 This is not a Sony "issue" because it isn't the console, or marketplace causing an issue with your game, download, servers etc. If the content is no longer in the store at all, that is working as intended. That means it was removed as downloadable content. In my opinion that was done because the online pass isn't needed for DRM downloads but would be for physical copies from way back when.

    Here is what we sent out to players a while back

    ONLINE PASS HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED, AND ITS REQUIREMENT FOR OLDER GAMES WILL BE ELIMINATED.

    Do I still need an Online Pass to play multiplayer games online?
    For new EA titles, Online Pass will no longer be needed or included. Additionally, we are in the process of eliminating Online Pass requirements from existing EA games. This process will take several weeks. For some games, the prompt to enter an Online Pass code will no longer appear; for others, you will still need to download and install an Online Pass, but they will be available free of charge from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace or PlayStation Store.

    If the pass is not allowing you to download it from within the game, you can try to reinstall the game, or sign into the console with another account that does own it, but if the above-mentioned doe no work, then I am afraid there isn't any other way of getting that downloaded if the PS store doesn't have it available.

    I suppose that is at least a reasonable answer considering the overseas online help talk in circles and are saying the game is no longer online despite people on my friends list literally playing it. When you explain this to them, they seem to ignore new information. 

    Anyway, I think ultimately I'm going to end up having to use someone else's PSN account and download their online pass file to my machine to use. This is really just unbelievable to have to deal with all these years later.

    @GQman2121 To be honest I've spent a good portion of the day trying to find a way to get it on the PS. I know you can move saves and files on a USB but not games or DLC. I had a disc copy but I can't find it. I wanted to test it myself. I think the two best options are another PSN ID that had it or a digital copy. Even on my end, there isn't anything I could add that would grant that like Mass Effect does with that online pass.

He estado buscando una respuesta para esta situación, porque me pasa lo mismo a mí, y me gustaría saber si podrías encontrar una solución para este problema, porque quiero conseguir el trofeo de platino, pero naturalmente no quiero comprar un nuevo juego digital si tengo la versión física solo para desbloquear el modo cooperativo. Y, si no hay solución, al menos me gustaría saber si está garantizado que podré jugar en cooperativo si obtengo la copia digital. ¡Gracias de antemano por tus respuestas! Y lo siento por mis errores porque el inglés no es mi lengua materna

    Hi dread,

    I was lucky enough to find an unused code at a local game shop in my area. 

    I can confirm for you, however, that if you purchase the digital version the online pass will be included and you'll be able to hop online and complete the co-op missions. 

    I can't confirm if your saves for the disc version will be compatible with the digital though.

    Thanks a lot for your answer! I really appreciate the information.

    In my actual situation the most probably is that I will buy the digital version, and I will have to start all again because I’m going to buy it in another region, then the saves are not compatible, but I only want to be able to play the online co-op mode.

    The only way to access digital content for Playstation 3 games is via the store on the console itself or through any menus within the game.
