Your graphics card does not meet minimum requirements

This is the error message that I get whenever I try to start Dead Space 3 which is weird because I'm pretty sure my laptop exceeds the requirements for ths game.

I've updated my video card drivers and have changed my laptop's performance mode to high performance so I'm really confused as to what could be the problem.

GPU: Geforce GTX 860M

CPU: Intel i7-4700HQ

Memory: 16GB

Driver version: 340.52

Try the following to be sure your discrete nvidia GPU is being used rather than the on-board IGP.

    1. Open the nvidia control panel
    2. Manage 3D settings, Program settings tab
    3. Click add to choose the program to customize
    4. Click browse and choose: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dead Space 3\deadspace3.exe
    5. Set your graphics preferences and click apply.

Please come back here and accept this as the solution if it works for you.

    Unfortunately that didn't work.

Were you able to complete the steps I posted as I am fairly sure your GTX 860M does meet the requirements?

Yep, followed all the steps. I actually got it to work though by plugging in another monitor. Not really sure how that would have fixed it though.
