AI keeps switching targets from the ones I set

Okay so this might not actually be a bug since I seem to recall this happening in my first playthrough as well (it was many years ago) but I've hit a rather annoying problem: the AI keeps switching around targets. Every time I set my characters to attack specific enemies then two seconds later everyone is attacking completely different enemies. Or they're all ganging up on one enemyy despite the fact that I told them to each attack a different enemy. Is this a bug or do I just need to make some changes in the tactics/behaviour menu. If so what do I need to change and what do I change it to?

Thanks in advance

@Kerberos1291 They can be a bit flighty, if I remember correctly. I think tactics tweaking should help. If you're playing on a lower difficulty, the tactic to make them attack your main character's target might help in burning down tricky enemies quickly.

That said, it's been a long while since I've gone into any depth with the DAO tactics menu. I first tried the game as a Dwarf rogue when the game launched, that was hard enough that I've only played the game on East since then.

Hopefully some other DA enthusiasts will have tips to keep your companions focused.

Thanks for the reply. I've since switched to two handed combat but at least it's good to know this is not a bug.

Just to echo the previous reply, The tactics can be really dodgy sometimes.  I have seen magic users charge into melee combat with a full mana pool. So part of the game is getting used to getting the tactics set up. But a good question as it took me a while to figure out when I first started playing
