Game I own not able to play after Gamepass subscription cancelled

I have owned Dragon Age Origins for years and after having Gamepass for a few months I can no longer access the game. I couldn't open it when it was installed, was advised to uninstall it by EA Help, this didn't fix it and the EA app now thinks I don't own the game.

But the game is in my Library. I don't even have a purchase option in the EA Store because you can't buy games that are already on your account!

Please fix this ASAP so I can access a game that I own.

Thanks.

  • Hello EA community managers, any word on whether this is going to get fixed? Would really like to be able to play my game that your launcher app won't let me do!

You are 100% sure you own DAO on this EA account?

    If so:

    Please clear your temp files:

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    • Into the new window, type or copy & paste:  "%temp%"  (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
    • Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
(If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

    Then:

    • Go here and download "Revo Uninstaller. (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
    • Run "Revo Uninstaller" > EA app.
    • At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Advance" > Browse.
    • If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
    • When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All > Delete.
    • Restart the PC
    • Download a new EA app setup exe from here. (Do it even if you already have the installer!)
    • Install EA app.
    • Run EA app as Administrator > Click the EA app shortcut on your desktop > Run as Administrator.
    • Test.

Hey man, sorry only just got a chance to try this. Definitely did not work. Still getting the same error. I 100% own this game as you can see from the screen shots attached.

Nafen060 This is an issue that is purely account/subscription related. Not game-related. When you get the error(s) that you do in the EA app, that means that the entitlements for the download you have are no longer active. If you "own" the game, Game Pass wouldn't matter.

When you first downloaded the game, was it through the EA app or through the Xbox app?
Did you only have the Game Pass sub, or did you have EA Play at any point?

If you reply with your EA ID I can check the account, but I can only look - I cannot make changes. Support should not have sent you here as CMs cannot make changes to accounts. That is all, Live Support.

Hey mate, yeah I have the disc game, I added it to my account using the CD Key years ago. The download would have been through Origin and since transferred into EA app. I never had EA Play on its own, it was always through Gamepass.

Since having an Xbox Gamepass sub my EA account won't let me play it. As you can see in the screenshots above from my account, I own it (there is no purchase option in the storefront and it is in my owned games Library).

My handle here is my EA ID. I went around in circles with Live Support. I have in the Case logs that they acknowledge that they can see that I own the game. Not sure how best to progress so any advice would be great. Cheers

Nafen060 Gotcha. So, yeah, having the physical copy would have turned into a digital one a long time ago. Let me take a look and see what I can find out though on it.

When you installed the game last, was it installed through the Game Pass download (Xbox) or did you install it through the EA app before you got the error?

Game Pass and the EA app may show up in your registry as different downloads and entitlements which is why I ask, so normally, once uninstalled, if you go into the EA app and search the store or library, it would work.

Hey, thanks for that. Yeah the install would have been via Origin and then just mapped the install directory when Origin transitioned to EA app. I remember there were a number of games that took a while to transition over into the EA app library at the time, but I don't think Dragon Age Origins was one of them. Not sure if that could stuff the registries re licenses. Cheers
