I have the exact same problem but for the PS3.  Very frustrating.

I have the same issue, and also had it with DA Origins and Skyrim. I think the game is coded to use home theatre setups, where you can increase overall volume output.

The way to fix it is turning on "Loudness Equalizer" in your audio settings like in Realtek for the PC. Setting to stereo does nothing. The problem with that setting, while it greatly improves all volumes, they will be equalized. For example, explosions at same volume as dialogue.

I personally increased my audio on my Asus G750JH laptop using audiowizard's maxx treble, maxx bass, and maxx dialogue. It keeps my levels, but increases volume higher than my 100% laptop speakers put out.

Sadly having the exact same issue, unable to hear character voices at all during cut scenes. Super super frustrating, hope there's a fix soon or this is going right back to amazon.
