It is a known exploit that should have been addressed in the latest patch. As per the patch notes:
Single-Player
- Fixed exploit that allowed for infinite influence.
- Fixed issue that allowed players to exploit their gold value in single-player mode.
Are you on the latest version and still getting this bug?
Actually it's a different exploit. After recent patch you can't get infinite influence - that's true. You get nothing and lose nothing If you buy contracts and sell them back immediately. But the part of that exploit (or may be a new one) still exists.
If you buy 9 of 10 contracts of the same type and press "Back" then you get your influence from all 9 contracts. Pretty fair deal, right? You convert your money into influence. And all contracts disappear from your inventory. That was a point of latest patch. But if you buy the last contract of that type then all previously bought contracts of that type reappear at "Sell" tab and could be sold again but at lower price (about 20% of original price). All at once. Without losing influence. And that is a problem. You can't buy Big Mac, eat it completely and then sell cheese from exactly THIS Big Mac back to McDonald's. It's kinda wierd.
Lets look from different point. Stop thinking about contracts appearing from nowhere. You buy an item then want to sell it back immediately. Usually you expect equal price. So why price became five times lower?
