I got a bit further but haven't been able to test yet since i'm at work.
I created a new user for my PS4 along with a new PSN ID and when i tried to connect to the dragon age servers I was presented with a different screen to create an origin account rather than the connection was lost error.
Which led me down a different path. It looks like you need to link your PSN account with an Origin account that has the same email address.

I'm so appreciative of the responses I'm getting from the community. What EA itself lacks in customer support, the community is valiantly trying to make up for.
Unfortunately, my origins account is already linked to my PSN account, so this fix won't work for me. But please keep the suggestions coming. I can't wait for this to be resolved!
so if you log in to https://www.origin.com/ and go to account settings you see your PSN account linked up?
do the emails for both accounts match up?
Yes. My origin account is linked to the same email address as is my PSN account.
