[DAI] camera flipping glitch when moving with mouse

while controlling the camera angle with a mouse, the camera will sometimes flip 180°. i’ve tried everything mentioned in some relevant EA forum threads, as well as whatever else i could think of:

  • disable overlay (steam, discord, and nvidia for me)
  • delete the “ProfileOptions_profile” file
  • clean reinstall of the graphic and mouse drivers
  • reduce camera movement speed/mouse sensitivity in game
  • turn off “enhanced pointer precision”
  • change graphic settings (texture quality and vsync etc)
  • repair game via steam

none fixes the problem. my pc isn’t connected to any controller at the moment. it has made exploration extremely tedious.

to add more context, it didn’t happen in first playthrough, it only started halfway through my second playthrough. this issue persisted ever since across different saves.

any suggestion on how to fix this problem will be appreciated:)

Did you disabled "Auto Center Camera" in the "Control" settings?
Is that also happening if you use the "Toggle Mouse Look" option?

yes, “auto center camera” has always been disabled. i’ve already bound a key to “toggle mouse look”, but the problem persists no matter it’s on or off.

What mouse do you use? (Vendor and type.)
Does the mouse use a configuration software?
Do you have other input devices connected to the PC?
Can you test with a different mouse?

Logitech B100. No configuration software so I can’t try different DPI settings. No other input device connected. The problem persisted when i unplugged the mouse to use the laptop trackpad.

    Please preform a Clean Boot:
A clean boot is a process that starts Windows with a minimal set of services and startup programs. This can help eliminate or find software conflicts.

How to perform the clean boot:

    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type “msconfig” (Without the quotes.) > Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
    • Check the box that says, “Hide all Microsoft services”.
    • Click Disable all. (Make sure the EABackgroundService remains enabled.)
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • In the Task Manager, disable all startup items that are activated.
    • Close Task Manager and go back to the System Configuration window, then click OK.
    • Restart the computer, the PC will start into clean boot mode.
    • Test the Game

      2. Additional Steps (Inside the Clean Boot Mode)
    • Ensure your virus scanner and other security software are disabled.
    • Disable Afterburner and similar software.
    • Make sure any CORSAIR software is disabled or uninstalled.
    • Disconnect all peripherals except for your mouse and keyboard.

ok I’ve attempted to perform the clean boot as instructed, but if I disabled everything except EA service, the game won’t launch due to steam client services being disabled and the lack of internet connection (EA app won’t let me launch games in offline mode after the clean boot due to failure to find my account information without any internet connection.)
I’ve attached an image showing everything else I’ve enabled except EA background services and steam client services. The problem still persists.

it’s likely the engine issue, but I will continue testing if I can disable any more service to see if it’s anything related to the enabled intel services.

update: i was able to disable everything except EA background service and steam client service. I guess the internet connection issue is by something else, which is fixed by booting the system normally first then going back to clean boot. but even so the camera is still having the same glitch, so i guess it’s either the issue with steam or frostbite.

Yes, you should be able to launch the game in offline mode.

However, I have exhausted all my ideas regarding the original problem.
Please let us know if you find a solution.

  • I had this same problem several years ago. The reason I hadn't replied yet is because I never figured this one out.

The one theory I had that may need to be tested, is that I came into the game with muscle memory from another game. I instinctively held shift to sprint, which isn't a thing in this game's single player mode. I managed to reproduce the problem once by pressing shift in a game session. Once I lost this habit, the problem went away, but I'm very unsure on whether this is actually what was causing it in the first place.

At the time I used the Logitech Mx Master 3S. A wireless mouse that uses Logitech's software.

Also, in my case, the problem only occurred when turning right, not left.
