FYI - you have to be close! That was the problem I had. I played an archer and I was to far away and I saw in another post where they mentioned this
I know this was posted 7 years ago, but I also know people still play and this was the first link that showed up for me - so I figured I would answer it for anyone else.

you have to use the new ability with the mark - takes the place of the 'call horse' key. Of course you have to wait for it to charge up before you can discharge it. You also have to be within range of him. so run right up to him before you use it.
