Can't access DLC without internet

I never had an issue like this in the past. I own Dragon Age Origins, 2, and Inquisition for the Xbox 360. I own all the DLC. Had all of it downloaded for almost a decade now. And yet, for the life of me, I don't recall EVER needing to be online to ACCESS the payed-for-and-already-downloaded DLC.

Hell, I have almost 50 games with DLC on my Xbox, and I cannot access all of THEIR DLC's without internet. So what gives her? Why do I HAVE to access the Dragon Age Keep,  ONLINE to access this DLC now?

    This is just not true.
You'll have to log in to the EA app online after a certain amount of time - that's EA's DRM mechanism - but if you do, the app will work offline for at least several weeks.
The log in to EA app is a local log in that works without internet connection as well. (As said, for a certain amount of time until you ned to log in wile being online.)
If that is not working on your fiances PC then there is a problem on this PC.

Did you contacted Xbox support about this problem?

@KayalDraknys The keep is a feature for importing saves and other "features". The Keep is not required for you to access DLC content. I just turned off the internet for DA 2 and all DLC is installed and the only error I get is checking for the social.bioware.com site that doesn't exist but no issues with the game or content.

I feel for you Sir like you wouldn't believe.  I also own a lot of digital games. But I also own games on CD.  Just in case I can't access one I have another.

In the same way, streaming services aren't as great as once advertised.  You might want to pick up the CD version of some of your favorite games.

    Just in case.

  • No offense, but what you said shows you didn't fully read what I posted.  I didn't HAVE internet to do that.

No internet at all, when you try to load the game, gave me access to NO DLC AT ALL.  I was given a message saying I had to go online TO ACCESS the DLC.  THAT is my issue.

I have all the DLC downloaded for Dragon Age 1, 2, and Inquisition.
After getting internet again, I could access all my content.  But while I'm WITHOUT INTERNET, I cannot access ANY OF THE DLC.

    So I tried another test.

I created a character while online (As I finally got internet back up and running).

I had access to all the DLC.  Saved the game.  Turned off the Xbox.  Turned off the WiFi and unplugged Ethernet cord so I could simulate being without internet again.
When I turned the Xbox back on and loaded the game, it told me I couldn't load the save because it had DLC that I had no access to.  Meaning, without internet, you cannot access ANY DLC.  THAT IS MY PROBLEM.

@KayalDraknys Just to clarify, you have gone online, and updated everything at least once or twice, and then closed off the internet and launched the game afterward?

I tested this on my laptop and went online just to establish an update then went offline and launched it and I can see all the DLC.

  • Console - Xbox One
    DLC - All

Got internet back.  Ran Xbox.  Updated everything that was needed.  Loaded all 3 games to test.

DA Origins - have access to all DLC

DA 2 - have access to all DLC

DA Inquisition - have access to all DLC

Created a save on the console.

    Turned off WiFi.
    Unplugged ethernet cord.

    Re-launched game.

DA Origins - have access to all DLC

DA 2 - Only access to Black Emporium

DA Inquisition - Only access to Black Emporium

DA 2 and Inquisition both stated I had to log into the Dragon Age Keep (Y Button) to access the DLC.  Couldn't load the characters created for test.

    Plugged ethernet cord in.

    Loaded game.
Was able to load both characters.

Meaning, without access to the internet while on the Xbox, you cannot access DLC.

I don't even want to get into the nightmare that is trying to play on a PC without internet (fiance had that issue, and you can't even log into the EA app without internet access)

To play "offline" on the EA app, you have to log into it, which REQUIRES internet access to do so.  There are literally no options for going into "offline mode" until you log in, which you cannot do without internet access.

    it's all a giant nightmare.

  • We had no internet for 2 months.

When logging into the EA App, it only gave a screen that stated it needed internet access to log in.  No other options, not even to go offline.  That is a BS rule to add for games that ARE NOT ONLINE GAMES.

And from everything I've read for the Xbox content, it was INTENTIONALLY designed like it is by EA, that you cannot access DLC without being online.  I have the same issue with Mass Effect 2 and 3.  No internet access, no DLC access.  I own all 3 games.  I own all the DLC for all 3 games.  ONLY Mass Effect 1 lets me have access to the DLC while offline.

    @KayalDraknys

If you or your fiance have a smartphone you can use it as a personal hotspot for your PC to log in with EA app, that will not cost much data and then the app should work again offline for, as said, several weeks until you have to do it again.

I can't say anything about the Xbox side of things, never owned one.
