Can't install patch 1.05 for Dragon Age: Origins on PC

I've been trying to download the newest patch from this post https://social.bioware.com/page/da-patches but whenever I click on the download button it tries to load the page for a couple of minutes & then comes up with this message:

The connection has timed out

The server at files.bioware.com is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I've been trying this for a couple of hours with the same response, I just wanted to bring this to someone's attention that something is wrong where the website is taking too long to respond. If there's something that can be done on my end to help it download I'm all ears, as they say.

I decided to replay DA:O, my favorite game of all time. And when I tried install the patch I get the message "This website is not available ERR-CONNECTION-TIMED-OUT"

I really want my dlc and bugs to be fixed!

  • I'm having the exact same issue. I can't download ANY of the patches... Not to mention that I can't even play the game on Origin since somehow, half of MY REGISTERED DLC is missing... Not really willing to spend 20 euro for a new game OR +30 euro to get all the missing DLC, AGAIN.

    Hi guys,

Sorry about the inconvenience. We're going to look into the issue.

In the meantime if you have trouble with your DLCs make sure to check the following threads because they contain other solutions:

SOLUTIONS] UNAUTHORIZED DLC or MISSING DLC

    - How can I access DLC for my classic BioWare games?

Possible fix for DLC not showing up in game with Origin installation

How to fix some DLC issues

If nothing works, please contact an Advisor so they can apply a new key on your Origin account if necessary.

    Hi guys,

In order to investigate further, can you please let us now:

    - What browsers you are using? (have you tried different browsers?)

    - Do you have any kind of pop-up or ad-block program?

    - Your location

    Thanks in advance!

  • I'm using Firefox, I don't have any other browsers installed on my computer & I'd like to keep it that way if at all possible. For my ad-blocker I have uBlock Origin & I'm located in the United States (more specifically Arizona).

I never was able to download the patch...

I eventually got around the issue by completely uninstalling DAO and using my purchase code to download the entire game off Origin instead, which enabled me to get the patch as part of the download. I'm glad that I'm able to play it now, but it was a somewhat frustrating journey.
I would like to include, though, that I think it's far more likely this was an issue with my computer setup than anything else. It's just frustrating not knowing what I did or didn't click to set me on this path. I spoke with an EA advisor and the customer service was excellent - we just couldn't figure it out on the spot.

I made the attempt using IE11, Firefox, and Google Chrome. I had Windows Firewall and Norton Firewall and disabled both to no avail. I'm in Missouri, US
