can't launch dragon age 2

It worked 2 days ago when I reinstalled it after not playing for a year but now Dragon age 2 refuses to launch, whenever I try to launch the game via steam, the ea app, or directly with the .exe it just opens up the ea app and then closes again, and nothing happens.

It's on Directx 9, not Directx 11 so it's not that, it's set to run as administrator so it's not that either, it's in compatibility mode so it's also not that. When I try to troubleshoot it says there's a ''missing'' required file, ssleay32.dll, but that's not true as it IS there. I have done everything people have said to do and it still doesn't work.

Try to clear your Origin cache.
All settings in Origin (only in Origin not in the games) are back to default settings after this.

You will need an interconnection to register the DLCs again after this.

    • Close Origin completely.
(right click on the Origin symbol in the task bar > close)
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%/Origin" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Delete all the files and folders in the Origin folder, except for the "LocalContent" folder.
(The "LocalContent" folder must remain untouched.)
    • Delete the "Dragon Age II" folder inside the "LocalContent" folder.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%AppData%" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Now your Windows explorer should have brought you to your "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Roaming" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the "Roaming" folder.
    • In the address bar of your Windows explorer click on "AppData".
    • Open the "Local" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the  "Local" folder.
    • Restart the PC > Test

So you have the game on Steam? If so use the repair function in the EA client you use as well.

Yeah the settings did save, and I have also verified the files several times but it still doesn't work.

Your system is completely Directx 11 ready, so the game should run on Directx 11 as well. But did you saved the settings in the Config app after changing to Directx 9?

    Try to repair the game.

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)

(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)
