Can't play multiplayer with friend

A friend an I have tried several times to get in a lobby together. It is impossible for us to invite each other and we get various obscure error messages when trying. The first error message states that our DLCs do not match which is **bleep**. We have compared our DLCs and they match exactly (he even upgraded to premium for this btw) Now the second error message says "failed to connect" or something similar and sets you into a loop of constant loading and getting this error message. It can not be stopped without ALT F4 or by the mercy of the lobby owner closing it. We even went as far as to reinstall Origin and repair the game and all DLCs. We are both able to join lobbys separately, simply can not open a game together. It gets very frustrating and there is not much to be found about this topic on google.

Can someone please look into this. I mean you can't be serious about this. We paid top money for this game and put up with all of your **bleep** policies to actually not being able to enjoy it.

  • Hey Guys,

Me and my friends bought the game aswell and fixed the problem.

We have tried everything, from reinstall game to everything with connectivity.

We were almost done with searching cause no one had the right answer for us.

But we got it! hope its the same for you guys.

    The answer was very simple.

The first time you play multiplayer you need to play a prologue.

When you choose for create lobby you see: "Enter proving grounds" or something like that.

Everyone needs to play this proving ground first or you got different data.

We bought this game with 4 people, 1 of us had this problem.

He played the proving grounds, and the problem was solved.

Its weird that the prologue doesnt start immediatly or that they send you towards the proving grounds.

But Cheers, Hope its the same for you guys!!!

  • My friend and I have tried every possible solution mash up with the lobbies, the quick play, invites, and so on- and NOTHING will work. We had a small glimmer of hope the fist time- we could actually SEE each other- but the moment we opened the first door, it booted him out and we've been trying every solution for DAYS NOW and the same "ERROR: YOU HAVE LOST YOUR CONNECTION TO THE SESSION" has popped up every time since... And while we are perfectly able to connect to strangers- the game won't let us do a match together even if we search the EXACT SAME TERRITORY on a public match. It's vexing... and with each additional failed match-up it is becoming a personal villain origin story...

Hey @Plumb_Luck sounds like it may be a connection issue on one of your ends.

Is it possible to both try a different network, using your phone as a hotspot with mobile data to test and see what happens?

  • @EA_Darko If that were the case, then why would we be able to match with other users? We matched with five different random people, multiple times- but for some reason we are completely unable to match with each other. We both tested our networks and both were going strong as well.

The fact that you can match with other users points to an issue with one or the others network @Plumb_Luck.

One of you could be on IVP4 and the other on IVP 6 for example.

I have had this issue too, mostly with people from within my country (I live in Norway), and we pretty much all have the same ISP. I have a VERY stable network too, with every port open, so normally, this should never be a problem locally. It is 100% server side.

However, when we connect to a foreign host, there was no issues at all. There has to be something wrong with the netcode altogether, that it sometimes blocks players on the same ISP from properly connecting to eachother.

Either way, it is weird that the problem mostly occur with friends who live closer to eachother.

Hey @THE_Crazy_Hyena that there are no issues with users on a different ISP points to a possible ISP or network issue.

Have you tried another network to see if you continue to see the same issue?

Yes, been having the same issue when using my phone as a hotspot. It only affects people within my country for some reason, while connecting to others works fine.
It has to be a server side issue.
