Can't select direct x in config menu

Hi,

I just bought Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition from Steam and unfortunately my computer cannot play games using Direct X 10 or 11, only 9. This usually isn't a problem because I just select Direct x 9 and play the game. However in the configuration menu there is no option to select Direct x 9 where there should. Any advice is much appreciated.

This game predates common usage of Dx10 (Windows Vista wasn't popular), so it has no such option.  It is Dx9 only, as it was designed.

  • Well it behaves like games I attempt to run in Direct X 10/11. What happens is that it loads the start screen from steam. I then click the play button, and nothing happens.

Your problem appears unrelated to what the OP has asked about.  You need your own individual request for a tech discussion, and you must do your own part completely:
