Changing world state partway through?

I spent hours making a custom world state in the Keep before starting Inquisition and told it I wanted to import from the Keep at the start of the game and thought it had, but now 30hours in I've realized for sure that it used the default world state because I met Alistair as king when he ended as a warden. By clicking the import to Inquisition button in the keep (I think that was the step I missed), can I change my current game going forward, or do I have to do the complicated sounding series of steps to adjust the save file that other people are suggesting? I did see someone saying that while it's not possible to change the worldstate partway through on consoles, it is on PC.

Just really sad that the info isn't right, especially after all the time I put into it before I started. Leliana did say something earlier and I was confused but wasn't certain that it was using a default state till now.

  • I personally don't know of a way to change a worldstate once the play is started.  There is definitely no way to do so from in the game, or with game supplied tools.  So yeah, if someone listed a complicated series of steps, then this is likely your only hope to change mid-play.....or restart your play again with your wanted world-state and double check that it does indeed download it, as is USUALLY does list the world state as downloaded and which it is.....but I have had issues with it not getting it 100% correct even then.

I would make a backup of your saves to tinker with, so you don't lose your current play and can easily restart your tinkering if you need too.

  • Just wanted to leave this here in case anyone else has the same issue. There are two programs floating around that can do this, one Java based and one not. Took me a few hours to find the non-Java one. Once you find the program and get it running it's very quick and easy and works great! (I'm so relieved that I don't need to replay 30hrs.)

Here's a Youtube video that helped me use the editor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLH3sjJSjzw&list=WL&index=1&t=212s
