Characters don't attack or inflict any damage
I just installed Dragon age origins on my computer after upgrading to windows 8. I never had a problem with origins before but now I got this problem where when I enter combat my character or party do not attack except they avoid or block every blow and receive no damage. I can still direct my characters to do their special attacks or spells but they also inflict no damage.

If your Grey Warden and party members never inflict damage, try disabling/uninstalling any mod you may have installed.
If they inflict damage from time to time or if you have no mods installed, remember that characters can miss their target easily, especially at the beginning. Also if your party members seem to be foolishly standing there doing nothing while your Grey Warden is being attacked by 2 or 3 darkspawns, check what tactics are enabled for them.
