Conversation slow down
I just recently re-installed DA:O from Origin, and ran the 1.05 patch. There are certain conversations that make the game slow down and get really choppy, such that it takes several minutes to get through the dialog, even hitting 'esc' as soon as the other person starts talking.
The first time it happened was right after the Harrowing in the Mage Origin story (when Jowan wakes you). Actually, the slowdown started in the fade as I finished talking to Mouse, but got really bad once I was talking to Jowan. It happened again in the conversation where you meet Liliana. It's really painful and takes several tries (and usually about half an hour) to get through these certain conversations. I seems to always happen with those particular ones. Other conversations (and the rest of the game) runs smooth as silk.
I've got Windows 7 Home 64 bit Service Pack 1; Nvidia 9800GT driver version 310.90; 4 GB RAM. I uninstalled all user-mods and still had that issue.
I've tried various things like setting processor affinity, changing all the graphics settings to low, turning the sound off, nothing seems make this issue go away.
I think I made the problem go away. I uninstalled everything, and re-installed. This time, I never applied the 1.05 patch. I just installed DA:O, and then directly installed Awakenings (which patches DA:O up to 1.04). I added mods back one at a time until I had everything back, and couldn't reproduce the slowdown.
