Crashes involving War Table (w/ occasional conversation crash)

For starters:

Win 7

i7 3.4 GHz

8GB RAM

GeForce 660 (Driver v. 344.75)

--------------------------------------

I'm looking for a cause and/or temp/perm fix for this crash.  It seems to happen occassionally with conversations and I'm able to duplicate the crash everytime with spending five minutes in the War Room.  The crash makes the screen flash black then a split-second later it remains as a white screen (sometimes with sound, sometimes with sound that eventually silences or no sound at all).

Things I have tried:

Clean install of the game

Clean install of the driver

Toning graphics down

Alt-tabbing

Fullscreen/Full-Windowed/Windowed mode

Online & Offline mode

Run as admin

Turning off:

  • Ambient Occulsion (In-game & GeForce panel)
  • Multisample Antialiasing
  • SSAO/HBAO
  • Origin overlay

--------------------------------------

I am very tech savvy, especially with Windows, though unable to seem to figure this out.  The only way I have figured to route this problem is to rush my time in the War Room before the game can crash and by saving before I click the door.  I do play with a controller as well.  Combat is smooth and exploration has no issues.  It only seems to happen with the War Room and conversations.

After having some words with a EA tech and a enjoyed conversation, rolling back to 344.11 for GeForce drivers seemed to stop the freeze.  Though I will monitor it and report it back here.

I am having exact same difficulties as you tishobi 576

    running game with :

    -Win7

    -AMD8320 FX

    -Gforce 760 sc

    but use Keyboard and mouse

Tried exact same personnal fixes with same results {blackout screen 2-3seconds then white screen with background music playing}.

Definate crash with no answers to fix.

Hoping EA  will have some sort of fix for PC players soon  :o)

    Update:

Now that it is after the holidays, I have a little bit of free time.  The problem still remains.  I had contacted EA support on the 16th and spoke with a Rep, was transfered to an "IT dept" and tried a few new solutions besides the solutions I had already done.

    Such as:

    • Uninstalling GPU via device manager, then reinstalling
    • Creating new Windows user

Still no luck with a fix.

The "IT rep" had advanced the case to someone (an advanced team, above the IT guy) who was to respond back via email, this was on the 16th of December (11 days ago; 6 working days).  I took the liberty to contact NVIDIA about my GPU, they have no troubleshooting for this because this is a "game issue," something is wrong with the game which causes it be non-compatible with NVIDIA.

Hello I beleive that there are fudamantal problems wit the code and how it interact with directX. (going to mantle seems to be teh fix for AMD card user)

There seems lots of resources contention with resident programs.

Unless the code is changed i think we can only make it something we can live with.

The problem is that  the receipie is going to be different for each MB,CPU,GPU combo.

old driver clean upcleaning and installing 347.09. "limited" the crash to screen loading (travel, cut scenes).

with the setting bellow on my system i did not have a crash for about 40 hours and i play in ultra @ 71 fps average.

Turning the shader cache off  on the nvidia driver and removing nvida experience and the Asus OSD  inmproved the sitruation drastically from crahs every 30-60 minuted to no chrash so far

    mbd: asus xhair 5 formula
proc: fx8150 running at 3.85 mgh (water cooled corsair h100)
    ram : 16 meg @ 1333 (no OC)
Gpu: gtx970 ichil 4mg (factory OC)
    2*250 mg ssd

The game has all the patches and the multiplayer. i play on a 24" wide screen.

This is what alleviated /fixed the problem (no crash after amost 40 hours of play) and the game benchmark mow works (it never ever did before the change)

I got rid of the OSD the asus videocapture tool.
I removed all the drivers (using a driver uninstaller)
installed the latest Nvidia driver 347.09
    de-installed the nvidia experience.

    The driver setting are
    anisotrpic filtering off
    anti aliasing fxaa off
    anti aliasing mode off
    shader cache off
    max pre-rendered frame 3
    vertical sync off

    In origin
    origin is enabled in game

    In inquisition
    the audio is on night
resolution is the native resolution of the screen 1080p @60hz
    full screen windowed
    vertical sync unticked

    everything on ultra
    anything with anti aliasing disabled
    ambient oclusion off
    post process quality low
    everything in account unticked

There is no usr.cfg and i run the video card as is (factory overclock).

before trying to touble shoot, I reload loaded  visual c++ and directx11, however the 347.09 driver where installed last.

I did a power down after the change

    I hope that helps
