Crashing trying to load game

I've been playing several days just fine, then after a battle I was unable to switch characters. I saved the game, and attempted to reload the game trying to fix that problem. Now the game crashed after the loading screen. It shows the cards, a black screen, then exits to the desktop. I've reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers, and attempted to "repair" the installation. Anything else I should try?

I have an AMD FX-9590, GTX 780, and 16GB of ram. Everything is watercooled so I can rule out a high temp issue.

Well, the disabling core tactic worked three times in successioin for me, but now, the dreaded PC crash/reboot during the attempted loading of a saved game has returned.
For what it's worth, this is a list of things I have already implemented, to no avail:
Make sure drivers are up to date
Disable Origin in Game
Run CCleaner and clear out cache and everything
Disable anti-virus and firewalls
Repair the game installation
Run in windowed mode
Turn off anti-aliasing.
Lower graphic quality.
Switch audio setting to headphones
Crossed my fingers and toes
Threw salt over myleft shoulder.

Im having the same exact problem, various games in the western approach, were you able to fix it? thanks.
