Crossfire 295x2 Issues with DA:I

I've tried everything, installed every driver beta or not.  Currently have fresh reformat, Current AMD drivers for gpu and chipset installed. DA:I starts with a single 295x2 but runs like **bleep** with directX.  Switching to mantle solves nearly all problems except for major glitching on the main screen and lighting like the moon in game.  Game gets nearly solid 60 fps at 1080P.  However, switching to 3840 x 2160 drops the fps down to 10-20 with everything on ultra+ settings.   Adding another 295x2 causes DA:I to refuse to start with mantle. I can only start the game with directX selected.  However, the game runs like complete **bleep** due to constant fps drops.  Benchmark from main page @ 1080P resolution with everything at low - min 5 fps max 60 fps.  3840 x 2160 at ultra min 1 fps max 53 fps.  The game actually runs better at 3840 x 2160 with a single 295x2 then with two of them selected in crossfire.  I've tried running game profile in CCC running different modes for crossfirex and nothing.  If I could only get the game started with mantle but it refuses and I have to manually delete the setting files to start the game in default directx after trying to boot in mantle.  I just get a black window that stays there forever.

The rig is a custom built $6000 monster built by me with closed loop cooling and custom water blocks for the gpus with multiple 480mm rads.  Tomb Raider and Shadow of Mordor run solid 60 fps @ 3840 x 2160 with everything on ultra, with SoM running my gpus a bit hotter at 53c degrees at full load.  One idles at 29c and two idle at 34c. Listing DxDiag below.  If anyone has any ideas or simliar problems, I would love to hear it.  Thanks!

Both 295x2's are XFX in stock form other then original headsink/water cooling junk has been taken off and thrown away.

EVGA 1600 watt power supply to keep them fed.

    this game hates SLI/Xfire..

the fact that your cards are dual gpu on one card, so you are essentially running 4 gpus, is the worst combo you can have for this game.

you cant just run on one gpu..

unfortunatly you are probably going to have to wait for new drivers or a patch that specifically fixes xfire.

If you have any of the nvidea drivers for sound installed on your system, I would recommend taking them out.  Several people have stated that the driver package from Nvidea contains sound drivers that don't get along with DAI for them.  They recomend just installing the Video driver and only the video driver.

  • You should be able to start the game with DirectX.  I only get the black screen with mantle. Delete your C:\Users\PC-Name\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save\profileoptions file should default it back to directx setting.  Be warned my game runs like **bleep** with my 4 gpus in DirectX.  I am convined the game would have a chance of running on mantle but I simply just get a blank black screen and then have to delete said profile files in order to get the game to even load back up.  I believe its an issue because the game starts windowed and then launched to fullscreen and crossfire doesnt work in windowed?  I've tried it all but from the people that responded to the thread, it looks like Im just stuck waiting for a patch until I can play this game.  Seems like us computer players get the shaft often these days.
