DA: Origins, UE - Crashing
Ok, this is not exactly a 'new' topic, but I can't seem to find any answers that work.
So, I'm trying to play DAO and I'm in Lothering. All the cut scenes and play has been fine. The game would crash, sometimes, if I alt-tabbed out and then came back in. But I'd just reboot my laptop and restart the game (I save a lot) and play. I play for an hour, maybe 2.
In the last few days, however, now that I'm in the fields with the bandits or fighting off Lothering locals, the game crashes on me as soon as I start to fight. It didn't do this before.
Sometimes, I can't even LOAD the game and it crashes.
I have an updated laptop, it's got plenty of memory and RAM. Great graphics card.
Everything's updated. Windows 11. My graphics driver. I've tried a Repair. I tried 'Update game'.
I've seen other posts that talk about STEAM and crashing but I'm using Origin. I set the setting to enable administrator, but don't get asked anything. It was set off, but I'm trying anything and everything to get it working. I've tried setting the affinity. I can't tell if that's working.
I'm not spectacular at being told: DO THIS. I need directions. But for the most part, if it's been suggested, I've tried it.
The ONLY thing I haven't done, because it keeps crashing, is resetting the level of graphics. However, I don't know why it's giving me grief in Lothering when it didn't during the preamble of the Tower of Ishal and the Wilds.
Help?
Thanks.
I looked at the dxdiag, but nothing jumps out. I'll send this to some other people and see if they have any ideas.
Right now, I can only offer the standard advice. If you haven't already, try a clean boot. This will disable unnecessary third party software that sometimes interferes with the game. While Dragon Age Origins gets a little crashy on modern hardware, this is a bit excessive.
