(DA:I) How on earth do I get out of these mountains?

So every time I start Dragon Age Inquisition I wind up walking around this little valley where I supposedly met Andraste (from what I've read in reviews). The problem is, I don't know how to get out of there. Am I even supposed to be in there when the game starts? Every walkthrough I've read/watched involves the inquisitor trying to hold hands with Andraste, flying back down to the ground, getting arrested and waking up in a dungeon. I feel like maybe this mountain scene shouldn't be happening, but if it's meant to - please, please can anyone point me towards the way out?

So you're still in the rift scene right after the character creation? You touch the glowing person and then you pop back out in the ruins of the cathedral and get arrested and then a loading screen and dungeon.
Seems like something is getting hung up and not triggering.

Thank you - now I just have to work out how to prevent the whole Maria in the Sound of Music (y'know 'the hills are alive, tra-la-la) thing I've got going on so I can actually play the game. :manfrustrated: Much love, deary!

Hey, I don't know if you figured this out already, but this worked for me: set the graphics to low, then exit the game, start the game again, and it should work, it should take you to the prison scene. Then when you have control, you can change the settings again to your liking. Hope this helps!

This is happening to me, but I don't understand what you did to fix it?
My char wakes up in the mountain rift and never get arrested, so all I can do is just kind of run around..?

It worked - you are brilliant! Thanks to the people who helped me out so darned quickly - I figured it'd take a few days, but you guys knocked my socks off!
