Well, the first solution didn't work, namely because there was nothing but the mouse to disable. But the second one seems to have! I figured it was probably a third party problem after I'd tried basically everything related directly to Windows but was frustrated because it's usually a firewall issue and didn't seem to be in this case. But obviously something is causing it. AT LEAST I CAN PLAY NOW! But it'll probably take me a while to figure out what program is causing the issue. Still, I'm monumentally closer than I was before, *and I can play*, so thank you!

@TangledRivers Thanks for the detailed post. I know around launch we saw a couple of issues where other peripherals would gain primacy over pads or KBM controls, but these should be sorted by now.

If you check your Device Manager I'll guess that your peripherals will show up as normal. However it might be worth checking if something else is being detected as a game controller. You can try temporily disabling any other input devices (like your touchpad) and see if that has an effect.

You're right that I've tried Device Manager and everything is normal. Some other measures I've taken to no avail: I've updated all drivers (graphics card, all input devices, etc) if available, verified integrity of game files, restarted the computer, restored to previous version of windows, re-updated operating system (Creator update for Windows 10), fully disabled all malware/antivirus, unplugged and re-plugged peripherals (and made sure they were plugged before opening the application).

I will try disabling peripherals to isolate others and see if that works sometime later today, but still welcoming all suggestions because I am *DESPERATE* - this is killing me, I just want to play DA! I'll report on success or failure later today. I do already have my touchpad disabled by default (because I don't use it), but maybe disabling and re-enabling after will do something anyway. I don't have high hopes for this suggestion but I'm literally willing to try anything right now.

Yep, please let us know how you get on.

If this proves fruitless, you can try a Clean Boot restart, in case there's some weird 3rd party interference.

    Wonderful, thank you for the update.
    
    In cases like this we'll usually turn on half of the regular startup programs, then test. Depending on whether the issue manifests again, we can add/remove items until the culprit is identified.
    
    Good luck, hopefully you can get this cleared up quickly.
