DAI Requiring Origin Activation
Dragon Age Inquisition was working fine on my computer until a little while ago. I was having issues with other EA games wanting me to go through Origin, and now DAI is doing the same. While I was able to delete temp files and licenses to get the other games to work, DAI is not working. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling, repairing and yelling at it. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
@squeezyballgal Its an issue because of the DRM when the game was released. You cant just remove it from the game without re-coding the entire game. Origin and the EA app are not the same, so older games that worked off that DRM will still give an error or make you log into the Origin page.
This is why DAO will always say server error. There isn't a way to remove that without going into the game and redoing the entire game. This error happens for a long list of games not just DA games. When that message pops up, what should happen is you simply log in with your current EA account. You can try changing the password and then doing it again.
What I would do to test it is to follow the directions above to delete the license folder, uninstall the game, clean the registry and reinstall it as a fresh copy. It is possible that there is a file somewhere stopping you. Or a registry entry that is stopping it and not recognizing that you own that version of the game.
Having a standard or special version is a different registry than when the game was converted to a GOTY which is why if you were to, lets say reformat your PC, or add another windows user it would work. Now you don't have reformat at all but the Windows files and folders and registry entries are not the same.
