Difference for me when change to windowed fullscreen, is the computer does a hard lock up, and need to turn off power to get it up and running again. In normal fullscreen it keep throw out DX errors and crash to desktop.
The game run fine until the starter area was over and went to the map. Did people actually test this game beyond the first 30 mins? geeze.
It doesn't even get to the menu screen in windowed fullscreen?
NVIDIA 770 I have had to reboot my PC every time this happens. Nothing is overclocked. Factory system stock settings.

Try to downclock it somewhat anyway, why not?

No sure if this has been mentioned previously in the thread but I was able to get a stable game by changing the display settings over to the Mantle setting, this bypasses directx but can only be done when you have both AMD cpu and gpu. but from what i've read most poeple have the nvidia gpus so this wont help you.

First downclocking does nothing to fix the issue for me. Second why in the hell should people have to downclock perfectly good hardware and play a game on terrible graphics settings because they refuse to fix the issue in Frostbite?
Frostbite is supposed to be EA's flagship engine for a lot of upcoming games and it's can't even handle mildly OC'ed GPU's apparently.
Bioware so far has not even addressed the issue and are ignoring us.

downloaded patch, repaired and verified all files.
drivers all current.
same DirectX error as ever.anyone know how to reset the graphics level outside of the game? maybe if I crank it down far enough so everything looks like a gooey blob it'll run.

Bioware and EA please fix this. There are so many of us with the same issue you should be able to reproduce what is happening and fix it.
The game is presently unplayable.
The patch today made it worse. The error now even shows up in the character creation screens. I must shut down the computer and restart each time this error occurs.
I have an MSI Nvidia 660 gtx with the latest driver and running Windows 8.1 64 up to date. My system far exceeds the minimum for the game. I bought it new just 1 year ago.
I am going from here to the Amazon site where I bought this to give the game a 1 out of 5. It may some day warrant a higher score, but I cannot play the game so how can I tell.

Because one shouldn't have to due to an error caused by the game.
