DirectX 10 error starting game

@clarinet222 Being able to play DAO or DA2 is no indication of being able to play DAI. They're older games made on an entirely different engine. The Frostbite 3 engine used to make DAI is far more demanding on your hardware.

Intel 'cards' are not supported, even if you do get the game running you are likely to encounter many bugs and crashes (beyond the game 'looking potato'), as poor graphics performance does cause significant issues with this game (such as being unable to get past character creation). If you have Decent or Trespasser, especially Trespasser as it affects the entire game, your chances of getting the game running are even lower.

If your laptop has a dedicated GPU (AMD or Nvidia) with at least 512 MB of GRAM, which supports direct x 10, you might be able to get the game running (though if you have the Decent or Trespasser, they seem to require a bit more).

Your graphics drivers are from 2012. Go to http://www.intel.com and find the latest drivers for your GPU.

I'm not sure which Intel HD chipset is on that CPU, but I once tested the Intel HD 4600 on a core i5 4690K and could barely maintain a playable framerate on the lowest settings at a very low resolution (1280x720). I know you said you don't care how it looks, but I think the bigger issue will be how it runs. Still, I'm very curious about the performance, so if you get the game running eventually, please let us know how it performs.

Well, I looked for the drivers for my processor-and it seems it's been unsupported for a while and there are no driver updates for Windows. Whoops. Looks like it's time to start saving for a gaming computer. Thanks so much!!

The driver page on the Intel site is an unorganized mess. You're probably better off going to the control panel in Windows, going to device manager, right clicking Intel HD Graphics, and let it look for drivers automatically.
