I found a fairly easy way around this with Radeon graphics cards:
1) Uninstall your old driver software through Control Panel
2) Make sure you remove all ATI software. Drivers, Catalyst Control Center etc.
3) Ensure the ATI folder on your C: drive (if you chose that as your default location) is removed --> reboot your PC normally
4) Download the newest beta driver --> http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64 (I use WIndows 8.1 x64)
5) Install the newest beta driver. It'll also install the "AMD Gaming Evolved" app. If it doesn't, your old drivers haven't been removed completely
6) Once the new drivers and AMD software has installed, launch the "AMD Gaming Evolved" app. It'll scan your machine for installed games...it doesn't take long
7) Launch Origin, click the "Origin" menu item at the top left of the Origin window and select "Application Settings". In the "Origin In Game" section of the settings, uncheck "Enable Origin In Game"
8) Close Origin to system tray or just minimize the Origin window
9) Go back to the AMD Gaming Evolved app and launch Dragon Age from there. You don't necessarily HAVE to optimize your games (I didn't optimize mine) and I'm playing on high settings
10) The game may or may not crash by doing this. If it does it'll only crash once or twice. In this case, just restart the game via the AMD Gaming Evolved app and play. I've played for 11 hours straight by doing this
Good Luck 🙂

I have same problem. I have seen that error, but usually it just goes to the loading screen and loads for a while before crashing back to desktop. Same GPU GTX560M; Different processor I5-2410.

Ok, this game is definitely broken, bad optimized, everything you want but bad, really bad !

I'm getting the same problem, but idk, is this a game, driver or video card problem? because my video card is new and i wonder if are video card problem.
My fix involves downloading Nvidia Inspector and underclocking my card to the factory settings. My card was bought pre-overclocked and for some reason this was an issue for Origin games. I underclocked it by 40Mhz and it works fine now. Just google Nvidia Inspector and underclock your card and it should work. Worked for me anyway thus far.

GTX660 Ti , same problem
Tried all the solutions listed on the forums, and at best I can delay the crash another 10 seconds, this not being a solution.
Been a month or so guys and still cannot play the game. Nvidia or EA need to get this together, pretty big problem.

Thanks! I used your suggestions and got the game running.
I have since set my resolution to 2560x1440 and have not had a problem.
Just installed Dragon age inquisition a few days ago and I was experiencing Directx error everytime there's a cutscene. Sterntoaster's solution worked for me. I am also using GTX 650 Ti boost. I've tried every fix possible from underclocking the card, rolling back nvidia drivers to registry edit and none worked.
I was using automatic graphic settings and it was set to high automatically, I decided to change the settings to what Sterntoaster mentioned and the cutscene directx error was fixed, haven't had any crashes since then. It just sucks that I can't play it in higher settings, I will settle with mediums for now.
What's odd is people with GTX 760 which is a better card than the one I am using were also experiencing same directx error, I guess the game's cutscene was just not optimized. Please note that I am able to play Battlefield 4 in Ultra(40 fps on average) and Plants vs Zombies garden warfare in Ultra just fine with zero errors, and both of those games use the same Frostbite engine Dragon age Inquisition is using, so it can't be the engine problem, I am leaning towards poor cutscene optimization, didn't get any directx errors during gameplay, it's only during cutscene.
